The Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa was held on 18 & 19 November 2019 in the Senegalese capital. This 6th edition confirms the Forum’s central place as a place for exchange and discussion on security issues in Africa.
This year’s theme “Current Challenges of Multilateralism” was at the heart of this edition’s discussions and was also embodied by the many participants and experts from governments, government organizations, think tanks, NGOs and other actors in society from all 5 continents.
Under the patronage of the Senegalese President, HE Mr. Macky SALL, the Forum welcomed this year the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, guest of honor of this edition. Edouard Philippe, French Prime Minister, as well as more than fifty high-level speakers among whom about twenty Defense and Foreign affairs ministers of African States had also made the trip.
Oriented towards finding concrete solutions to improve security on the African continent, the Forum received strong proposals, particularly around security issues in the Sahel. The CEIS team, operator of the Forum for the Senegalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad, mobilized for the 6th consecutive year to help make this event a place of exchanges and discussions at the height of the issues addressed.
